Sonic ran as fast as he could, with Tails flying behind him. Eggman's plane was not very far away, but it was accelerating, so they could not let it get away.
“What kind of crazy idea could Eggman have now?” wondered Sonic.
“I don't know, but I won't let him hurt Cosmo!” said Tails.
“Me neither. He's completely crazy!” said Sonic.

Eggman had just arrived at his base. He had Cosmo trapped in a circular energy field, and he was looking back towards Sonic and Tails.
“Typical. Those two are still chasing me. I'll just have to give them a warm welcome” he laughed. He released a trio of Egg-Insect-bots to attack the two heroes, and went inside his base.
“Oh no! More of those robot pests!” said Tails, and sure enough, he slammed into one of them. Sonic tried to attack the other two, but instead was hit by them. Tails managed to escape the one that was holding him, and then attacked it using a rock on the ground. The robot was unharmed, and quickly zoomed in for another attack. Tails dodged it, and it flew out of control, hitting one of the robots that was attacking Sonic, destroying it. Sonic then curled back into a ball and spun towards the one that had “saved” him, blowing it to bits.
“Great! Only one left!” said Sonic.
The robot tried to attack Sonic, but he was too fast for it. It then attempted to attack tails, but Tails as ready for it. He jumped into the air right before it hit him and landed right on top of it. He then kicked and punched its wings, causing it to lose control and fall to the ground, burning up.
“I think we should aim for the wings when those things attack us” said Tails.

“Excellent. Now, let's investigate... WILL YOU KEEP QUIET?!”
Eggman had not started his investigation, yet he was already having problems.
“WHY DO BABIES CRY SO MUCH?!” he yelled. He had Cosmo in a large tube, and was not enjoying how much she cried as his machines scanned her.
“Well, If you won't stop, then I'll just have to ignore it” said Eggman as he put on some earmuffs. However, he then saw the two heroes running through the halls of the building on a security camera.
“What? They got in?! Well, I might have to give them more Egg-Insect-Bots than they can handle!” he said, pushing a button which released dozens of Egg-Insect-bots.

“Okay, where is Eggman's main lab?”
“I think it's- INSECT ROBOT ATTACK!!!” cried Tails as several Egg-Insect-bots attacked them. Sonic remembered what Tails had told him earlier, Sonic curled up and sped right into the wings of one of the robots, causing it to crash into another one. He then jumped on another robot, and said “Yo! Come get me, ugly bug-bots!” The robots then flew right towards him, but he quickly jumped out of the way, causing them to attack each other.
Meanwhile, Tails was flying around to avoid the incoming robots. However, he was much smarter than the bots, and he had a few tricks to show them. He flew in several directions, causing the robots to lose track of his location. When they were completely lost, he grabbed one of them, pulled its wings off, and used them to attack the others.
“Watch out Tails!”
One of the robots was flying straight towards Tails, but he used another fallen robot as a shield, causing it to bounce off and allowing Sonic to finish it off.
“I think that was the last one” said Sonic.
“Yeah, but they sure are tough! I'm surprised Eggman didn't think of them before!” said Tails.
“Maybe he did, but he thought his other creations were superior” said Sonic.
“He's totally nuts.”

“Hmmm... those two sure are persistent” said Eggamn, looking at Cosmo. “Lucky I still have a few more surprises. And Once I can incapacitate them, I'll go back to my investigation and figure out how to turn them into babies and establish the Eggman empire!”
As soon as he finished saying that, Tails and Sonic crashed right through the door.
“Oh my, if it isn't Sonic the Hedgehog! However am I going to escape?”
“We're not interested in any excuses, Eggman. Hand over Cosmo and no one gets hurt!” said Sonic.
“Oh, but I DO ant someone to get hurt. Namely you!” said Eggman as he pulled out two large cannons. He attached them to his arms and started firing at Sonic. Sonic managed to dodge it, and was surprised when the beam that came out of the cannon completely froze the robot it hit.
“Freeze beams? How did he do that?” asked Tails.
“Oh, you would be surprised at what I do in my spare time, Egg-Insect-bots, freeze rays... and find ways of kidnapping baby plants!”
“Well, I'm still curious about that. Why kidnap her if she's just a baby?” asked Sonic.
“Yeah, she isn't a threat to anybody” added Tails.
“Oh, but that's exactly why I wished to get my hands on her “explained Eggman “When she was in her adult form, she was able to save the entire galaxy, and here she is now, as a baby, incapable of even speaking any understandable language. I reasoned that if she's so vulnerable as a baby, why not the rest of you?”
“Wait... you're saying you want to turn the rest of us into babies as well?” asked Tails.
“Of course! If I simply form some plan to trap you somewhere or fight against you in a super-robot, you always find out how to get the edge. However, when you are turned into a baby, you won't even be able to run as fast as you normally can!” laughed Eggman.
“We'll see about that!” said Sonic, who started to run again. However, Eggman blasted ice all over the floor, making Sonic slip and fall. Eggman then blasted him, trapping him in ice. He then noticed Tails breaking the tube where Cosmo was trapped.
“Almost... got it... There! Don't worry Cosmo, I got- AAAAAGH!”
Eggman had trapped both Sonic and Tails.
“Ah, perfect. That should hold them long enough to finish my investigation, then take complete control over this land!!!” Mwahaha!!” he laughed. He was just about to re-start his investigation when he stopped. He had heard a voice. Not the voice of Sonic or Tails. It was the voice... of a young girl...
“Don't think you can get away with this Eggman.”
