New can be a great thing for an old franchise if done right, but can be a bad thing if done wrong.
Example: The "Guitar Battle" concept was a new feature on Guitar Hero 3, and the result was you had to battle a simulated rock star in order to advance in the game. This was sheer genius and was a great hit. This "new" thing was awesome.

As for Sonic, many think this whole "hero-to-beast transformation" thing is a Twilight Princess rip-off.

As for me, I approach Sonic Unleashed with wary caution(like trying to approach a rattlesnake.) It's just that Ive been fooled by Sega's Marketing Hype Machine too many times with Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic 2006(along with an average(according to my gamer skill level) Sonic Riders games.)


And as for Transformers, I wouldnt pay any heed to those who say it sucks. I bet they are just trying to purposely annoy people for the hell of it.
